We all know and understand the important role played by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the history of the Ukrainian people, and in particular its importance as a moral and national guide throughout the hundreds of years of foreign occupation of Ukraine, during the hardships of the Second World War and post-war years. The work and the responsibility of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the moral and spiritual renewal of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, and the pastoral work required by Ukrainian Catholic communities world-wide are more important and harder to achieve now than ever before.
In order to fulfill the Lord’s work for the Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian Catholic Church needs dedicated and highly educated workers and leaders – religious and faithful. We are in need of new religious and national heroes, like Metropolitan Andrej Sheptytskyj and Patriarch Josyf Slipyj.
The Ukrainian Catholic Education Foundation (UCEF) was founded in response to a growing need to financially and practically assist the needs of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, specifically in the area of education. As a charitable trust, UCEF aims to provide a permanent source of funding for the advancement of education dedicated to the Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Following in the footsteps of others
UCEF is able to fulfill its mission through the
generous support of its donors, some of whom have
made significant contributions to UCEF in their Wills.
As a result of these bequests, UCEF has
established Endowment Funds with which it
supports its work in perpetuity. Among them:
The Rt. Rev. Basil Galarnyk Fund for the
establishment of a permanent visiting
professorship at the Ukrainian Catholic
University
The Wolodymyr and Stefania Lech Fund in
support of publication projects and scholarships
for seminarians
The Dr. Teodor Dziubanowsky Fund for the
establishment of a permanent chair at UCU.
Directions for Remembering UCEF in Your Will
A will is more than a document providing for the disposition of your assets. It is an expression of your love and commitment to those people and groups that you most cherish here on earth. As a supporter of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, a bequest to the UCEF ensures that your devotion to renewing the life of the Ukrainian Catholic Church through education will continue after you are gone.
Suggested wording for a bequest:
Remember that without a legally binding will, your estate may not be disbursed as per your wishes. An estate lawyer or planner can help you put together the necessary documents.
UCEF also accepts gifts of appreciated stock and other assets.
